What people are saying…

You expect all the gites you look for to be advertised as being perfect, this one really is; and more besides. A very comfortable and well equipped home from home overlooking a truly beautiful landscape of forestry and farmland. La Grange is set in a tranquil rural setting with lots to see and do in the nearby areas. Whatever plans you make before staying here don't be surprised if you leave a lot undone, this gite is so lovely you don't want to leave. Many thanks to the owners for their warm welcome and helpful information on the area.

Thank you both so much for the wonderful two weeks we have spent at your gorgeous property. This stay was everything we had hoped it would be and more; so restful and relaxing, very comfortable and in the most beautiful surroundings.  We felt absolutely at home from the moment we arrived and it is going to be very difficult to leave! You could not have been more helpful in providing us with great information and advice, which helped make everything about our stay very smooth and easy. What wonderful places to explore right on the doorstep! Thank you too for your flexibility, being able to change our dates right at the last minute helped us enormously and enabled us to experience both summer and autumn here! We look forward to our next visits from London & Toulouse.

“It has been a lovely week. We had a very good rest with the family in a very peaceful environment. Our girls loved the swimming pool, it was a real playground for them.  They are now ready to get back to school. The Tarn is a wonderful place.  Wish you all the best.”

Michael Decool & family — August 2020

“We came away not knowing what to expect due to Covid 19. We’ve had an amazing time in your beautiful barn.  The barn has everything you could possibly need and Barbara & Clive have been wonderful hosts.  We’ve explored all around the land and seen the beautiful villages, but have been more than content sitting by the pool and visiting the donkeys.  Thank you so much.  We hope to be back.”

The Wharton-Jones — July 2020

“What a great place to stay and relax.  Clive & Barbara are so friendly and helpful.  They are a wealth of knowledge when you want to plan and go places. Stay up late and watch the stars and up early to see the morning mist. Enjoy the silence! Such a peaceful place.”

Rob, Tracey, Niamh & Cara / Neil, Tina, Kieran / Paige & Tom — August 2019

“We’ve had the most peaceful, relaxing and magical time here - thank you so much to Clive & Barbara for being the most helpful and generous hosts. The house and pool have been amazing to chill in during the heat and we’ve enjoyed barbecues and al fresco dining. While we’ve been here we’ve enjoyed watching the bats fly over the pool, the Hummingbird Hawk Moths dart in the lavender, watching rugby at Gaillac Stadium, visiting the St Antonin Noble Val market and strolling through local fortified towns. Thank you to you both for providing such a haven in this gorgeous area of France - we loved it so much.”

Alex, Kate, Pete, David, Lizzie, Emily & Daisy — July-August 2019

“We have been looked after so well here and have spent a wonderful holiday walking, playing tennis, swimming and gathering strength to face the English winter. Clive & Barbara are fabulous hosts, sorting out issues around tennis court closures and smoothing away all difficulties.  We are so grateful for their kindness and interest.  I am sure we will be back as soon as we can! Thank you for our wonderful holiday.”

Vanessa, Saul, Anna & Alex — September 2018

“We’ve had an absolutely wonderful time staying here - the house is lovely and the pool is especially good!  The weather’s been great, very warm, so grateful for the pool. Our highlights have been: the beautiful rural towns & villages, the chateau in Bruniquel, canoeing on the Aveyron and most prominently, the amazing sense of relaxation and happiness we all experienced while staying here. All of us have had a great time staying in this beautiful place and want to say a massive thank you to Clive & Barbara - you’ve both been so lovely and helpful and it’s thanks to you that it’s so wonderful here.”

“What can we say other than the biggest of ‘thank yous’ to you both for another wonderful stay.  We came across this ’gem’ last year and, after an unanimous family vote, have come back again this year - this time with more of the family.  We have travelled a lot in France but ‘Barbara & Clive’s house’ is by far our favourite and we are already thinking of returning again next year.  If we could bottle the feeling that we all have when we are here and take a teaspoonful of it every day, we would all feel ‘on top of the world’ 365 days a year! Thank you both once again.”

Jane, Neal, Isobelle, Imogen & Eloise — August 2017

“This was our third time in your wonderful gîte.  Once again, we have had the most wonderful time.  The children have loved the pool, the donkeys and the huge grounds so very much.  Every day is an adventure.  You are the most delightful hosts and we will most certainly be back next year. We love it more every year. Thank you for another hugely memorable summer.”

“Such a wonderful find, a beautiful property in a fabulous location. We enjoyed Le Petit Trains in Cordes sur Ciel and Albi, our river trip to Albi and lunches at Jardin des Lys. Many thanks to you both for being so welcoming and helpful.”

Many best wishes from Alf, Doreen, Jim & Sandra, Shropshire UK — June 2017

“We have had a lovely 2 weeks here with most of it spent lounging by the pool in the sun! Lots of wildlife to see including bats, lizards, birds & donkeys.  We would recommend the Sunday market at St Antonin Noble Val and also enjoyed an overnight trip to Andorra.  What a good location for exploring the local area and beyond. Thanks Clive & Barbara.”

Jenny & Pryboda — May 2015

“All the lovely things written in here about Clive & Barbara are spot on.  Thank you both for your tremendous hospitality. We chose this area after having spent two weeks in the Aveyron department in June which was beautiful - here is equally as nice.  We didn’t travel for more than 45 minutes to any destination as there is loads to do and places to visit locally.  There are four Plus Beaux Villages of France close by and they are all worth a visit.  We ate out in two of these - Puycelsi (The Roc Cafe) and Castelnau (opposite the Tourist Office). Not cordon bleu but two pleasant and reasonably priced meals. For bread and milk, turn right at the little roundabout at Castelnau and the shop (Vival) is on your left, but don’t leave it too late for bread!

We enjoyed Gaillac (market day - Friday), Lisle sur Tarn and Montauban, to mention a few.  We also visited the biggest car boot sale type market at Saint Sulpice on Sunday. The Garden des Martels is also a must.  Take your shoes and socks off and walk on the water!

As we have a big interest in nature, we can only applaud what Clive & Barbara have done to their garden - or what they haven’t done! That is to enhance what is naturally there and not spoil it by adding inappropriate ornamental features and plantings.  We saw Common and Small Blues, Meadow Browns, All Copper, Clouded Yellow, Small Heaths and several other species of butterflies.  An amazing array of insects, birds and small mammals all help to make this gîte a cracking place to stay.  You only need to look out of the window.  So splendid was our experience here that we’ve booked 2 weeks next year.  This is the first time we’ve ever gone back to the same place after having had many holidays in France in the last ten years. Looking forward to our next visit already!”

Graeme, Sandra & Liz — September 2014

“This has been the best gîte that we have ever stayed in and we have been coming to France for over 20 years.  It simply ticks all the boxes for comfort, location, stunning views and great hosts!  We would strongly recommend hiring a canoe from St Antonin Noble Val as you get to see the landscape from a different perspective.  The cathedral in Albi is worth a visit and the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum is fantastic. Although a 3 hour drive, Andorra was a good day out especially the climb up through the Pyrenées.”

The Basley family — August 2013

“We cannot imagine a more perfect gîte holiday.  Comfortable and convenient with every mod con.  The most pleasant hosts we have ever encountered - those of us with long gîte experience say this is the best ever and those without are content to accept that opinion.  All are determined to return. Thank you Barbara & Clive for making a wonderful and memorable holiday possible - even the four legged residents were lovely.”

Jackie, Stephanie, Marcia, Geoffrey & Peter — June 2012

“After 30 years of coming to France, this is the first time we have returned to a property and we haven’t been disappointed.”

Colin, Anne & Simon — July 2011

“We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect place to spend our honeymoon/holiday.  All we wanted was time to relax together and spend quality time with our two little girls and we couldn’t have wished for more.  Thank you Clive & Barbara for a most wonderful stay.”

Jona, Susan, Freya & Millie — August 2010

“Back again for our second visit, still as good as before!  Thanks Clive & Barbara for making us so welcome and for being so helpful.  We’ve had a great couple of weeks relaxing in the sun, with a couple of days (dare we say) being too hot!  Have enjoyed sampling the local wine and have had a couple of family challenges at the Crazy Golf.  Enjoyed many days in the pool. A great holiday - thanks again.”

Tony, Claire, Marc, Eleanor, Ron, Ruth & Penny — August 2009

“A superb holiday in this, new to us, beautiful region of France.  So many enchanting places to explore, breathtaking scenery to say nothing of the gorgeous weather, fine local fare and the wonder of the Milky Way. La Grange is equipped perfectly for an easy, restful stay.  From the fantastic pool to the shade of the terrace we have enjoyed every minute.”

Thank you very much from the Jackson family — August 2008

“We’ve had a lovely time - peaceful, beautiful scenery, interesting places to visit and to cap it all a fantastic house in which to base everything. Thank you for your hospitality.  We will have many fond memories.”

“This gîte is really wonderful and is set in glorious countryside which makes it a magic place for a relaxing holiday.  We have certainly had that and will remember this place for a very long time.  It is marvellous to cool down in the beautiful pool in the evenings. We received a very warm welcome and lots of useful advice and help. Thank you for an unforgettable holiday.”
